| (Photo left taken in August 2008 by David Ford) When I was younger, I did what most people do -- I got a good
education in order to find a secure job. I first studied computer science and then I
studied business and for over 12 years I was employed by large, well-established
corporations. My jobs were always good in that they paid quite well and afforded me plenty
of holidays. I also got to oversee many large projects, some involving
multi-million-dollar computer systems that were used by thousands of people. My
initial work experiences were good, but I also found too much of the work boring and
unchallenging. Often, I used to stare out my office window and think about what I'd really
like to be doing. When I was in my early 30s, I knew that I had to get out.
In 1997, I decided to go out on my own and I
started my first company. I was in the right place at the right time -- online
publishing -- and, as a result, I was able to make enough money to call it a living. Since
then, I've never looked back and I now start each day looking forward to new challenges.
Today, I'm lucky to be involved in exciting
projects and I'm doing things that I used to only dream about. I love coming up with
fresh, innovative ideas, and then deliver spectacular results!
As you can see by what's on this site, I'm now involved in
quite a few things. The work I do is mostly for the two companies I currently own
-- Schneider Publishing Inc. and Starpowerone Entertainment Corporation -- and for the
limited number of clients I serve.
I enjoy all that I do now, but, in recent years, I've
found it difficult to boil down my job title to just one thing, particularly
since I wanted any title I carry to actually mean something about what I do. After months
of thinking about it, media producer and creative consultant
seems to encompass what I have been doing and what I will continue to do.
This website is basically my business card: it
explains what I do. But, my hope is that it can also accomplish more than just
that. I've always had the best success working with like-minded people and plan to
continue working that way. I'm hoping it will attract other people who will want
to work with me and explore new possibilities. So, if you like what you see here and think
that there's some way we could work together, drop me a line at info@dougschneider.com. You never know
what might come up.

I realized early on that you can't do
everything alone and I certainly need help to accomplish what I want to do, so I'd like to
point out a couple people who help me every day. Isabel, my wife,
is an accountant who handles the adminstrative aspects of the businesses,
not to mention all the things around the house (including taking care our son Andres).
She's originally from Venezuela, where it's always hot, but now lives here in Canada,
where it sometimes gets really cold. But she seems to like it. Obviously, she's an
essential part of the businesses because you can't run successfully if all the
paperwork isn't up to scratch. Isabel helps to keep everything in line, day in
and day out.
I also couldn't do all the creative things I do without Karen
Fanas. Karen is a visual artist who leads the design aspects on every
project I'm involved with. In addition to the work she does for me, she owns her
own company called Design Haus.
She has many satisfied clients that she works with on an ongoing basis, including me. Karen
has worked with me for over six years and shares the same kind of vision I do.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by my personal website.
I hope this website give you some insight about what I do -- and, mostly, what I want to
continue to do.
